Batch 2 of Woodley Sider.

14 gallons pressed, 6 gallons apple, 5 gallons pear & apple, 1 gallon pear, 1 gallon apple & blackberry, and 1 gallon apple, raspberry and blackberry. Some interesting combinations this time round. And kept some of the pulp for re-pressing for a lighter brew, if it works. Many thanks to Adam for his invaluable help.

The Crusher Stand!

Now being the proud owner of a crusher, and having used it once perched over a bucket it was obvious that a stand of some kind was going to be required. Below is a plan for that stand, drawn up using Google SketchUp and currently in the workshop for production.

The crusher will sit on the top, secured down so that minimal movement can take place and there is room underneath on the small platform for a 25ltr bucket to catch the crusher fruit.

Woodley Sider 2011

The first batch of the 2011 edition of Woodley Sider was pressed at the weekend, and the yeast added yesterday. Should take around 2 weeks to complete the fermentation process and then it’s a case of racking it off and leave for another week or two before bottling.

The %age is looking like it’ll be in the region of 5.7%.

Welcome to

Just a quick post to say welcome to the new website, establishing my presence on the web for my cider making venture.

Now in it’s 4th year of production with this years crop coming on nicely, it’s looking like another good harvest is on the cards, hopefully producing another batch of Woodley Sider. I intend to update this on a regular basis during the cider making season, as well as doing the odd update with information and possibly purchase opportunities (official merchandise for example).

The site is currently in a basic format at the moment, but I’m expecting to update and improve it over the coming weeks, so please visit again soon.
