Meet the Siders

2015 Production

Much better harvest compared to 2014 but not quite to the scale of 2013 when we hit 91 gallons!
“Woodley Sider - Orchard Box Exclusive″
ABV 6.3%
Made solely from apples sourced from Tadley as a result of another Berkshire cider producer not being bothered to collect from the apple tree owner, this cider was then bottled exclusively for Orchard Box. Because it's not carbonated there is the chance of a little sulphur whiff upon opening, so it is recommended that you pour into a glass.
Boxford Beaut_Box"Boxford Beaut"
ABV 6.0%
Made solely from apples sourced from Boxford, Suffolk (hence the name) with nothing added to this is your basic cider.
Barnyard Funk_Box"Barnyard Funk"
ABV 7.5%
Made from Woodley apples but with added Coconut Palm Sugar to give it a different flavour and higher percentage ABV.
Ellie Bear Sider_Box"Ellie Bear Sider"
ABV 4.6%
Made using apples from Finchampstead this is a lower ABV cider due to the lower sugar content. Slightly sweeter in flavour this is a standard cider with nothing added!
What a nice pear_Box"What a nice pear"
ABV 5.3%
Made using pears from a couple of different sources this is Woodley Sider's Perry edition. Strictly limited due to the lower availability of pears!
PS Head Sider_Box"PS Head"
ABV 6.3%
Made using apples from another source this is another standard cider with nothing added during fermentation.
BRW Sider_Box"BRW Sider"
ABV 6.6%
Made using a combination of apples from a roundabout in Bracknell and those from our own garden this is a high %age cider with nothing additional added.
Earleywood Sider_Box"EarleyWood Sider"
ABV 5.8%
A combination of apples from Earley and Woodley were used to make this batch. No added sugar for this one, definitely some sediment in what was bottled for that authentic cider experience!

2014 Production

Very small production for 2014 due to the lack of apples available (i.e. crap harvest!)
“WS14 Chestnut Aged″
ABV 6.4%
Made from a combination of apples from Brimpton Common and Preston this batch was aged for approx 1 month in a chestnut barrel. It was then boxed for the Reading CAMRA beer festival 2015.
“WS14 Oak Aged″
ABV 6.1%
Made from a combination of apples from Woodley and Preston this batch was aged for approx 1 month in an oak barrel. It was then boxed for the Reading CAMRA beer festival 2015.

2013 Production

“18″
ABV 5.4%
Made solely from apples from Emmer Green, this Sider has a very different taste to the usual Woodley Sider produced cider. Named ’18′ after the owner that the apples were sourced from.
“A&B Sider”
ABV 5.8%
Made from apples sourced from the garden, along with blackberries sourced locally. The addition of the blackberries increase the %age a bit and make this a slightly more fruity Sider.
“A,B&P Sider”
ABV 6.0%
Made from apples sourced from the garden, along with pears and blackberries sourced locally. The additional fruit take the %age higher than if it was just apples (The ABV appears to end up lower at the early part of the cider making season)
“Bajan Brain Fade 2013″
ABV 8.3% !!
Made solely from Woodley apples, 1kg of Dark Brown Muscovado sugar was added to enhance the flavour and %age. Not for the faint hearted, this is the 2013 production following the 2012 trial edition.
“GrApple”
ABV 6.8%
Made from apples sourced from Wokingham along with grapes sourced from Reading this ‘combo’ has an interesting flavour which should soften over time. the addition of the grapes gives it a bit of an ABV kick but not too much!
“Summer Fruits 2013″
ABV 6.6%
Following on from the popular ‘Summer Fruits’ Sider that was produced last year and featured at the Reading Real Ale & Jazz Festival, this Sider is a blend of around 90% apples and 10% mixed fruit (blackberries, raspberries and strawberries). The additional fruit increased the %age and gives it a fruity flavour – very drinkable!
“Roundabout Reserva”
ABV 6.2%
Made predominately from apples sourced from a Bracknell roundabout, but with some Woodley apples added to bulk up the volume, this Sider had Whisky Oak Barrel chips added during the secondary fermentation. This gave it an interesting whisky undertone, but still quite dry.
“Woodley Perry”
ABV 7.6%
Very limited edition perry from Woodley Sider, using locally sourced pears. Only 2 gallons produced due to limited availability of pears, a healthy ABV without any additional sugars added!
“Woodfinch Sider”
ABV 5.8%
A combination of Woodley apples and a batch of apples sourced from Finchampstead and slightly lower %age Sider than normal but still quite healthy!
“Duck Fog Strudel”
ABV 7.8%
A combination of Woodley and Finchampstead apples, this Sider packs a punch from the additional ingredients of 500g of Sultanas, 1kg of Dark Brown Sugar and some Cinnamon sticks. Makes for an interesting flavour, dangerously easy to drink! The name ‘Duck Fog’ comes from minutes of thinking by one of the team – although the original name was not printable!
“Chilli Shot Sider”
ABV 6.0%
This was this years ‘experimental’ production, only a gallon produced with dried birds eye chillies added during fermentation. This packs a punch and not for the faint hearted. Because of the chilli kick this produced it has been bottled into 5cl miniature bottles to reduce the risk of self harming!
“Spider”
ABV 6.8%
Made from locally sourced apples and pears this is a blend that featured at the 2014 Reading CAMRA Beer & Cider Festival in May. Produced following the previous years successful development of it, quite moreish!
“Syzer”
ABV 8.1%
Another limited edition Sider with only a gallon produced this season, this is apple cider with honey added (the cider equivalent to mead) during fermentation so the sugar in the honey turns to alcohol and also enhances the flavour. Only available in bottles as it was a trial, maybe this’ll make an appearance in larger volumes this year!
“Chilli Sider”
ABV 6.6%
Following on from the successful and warming tasting of the first batch of chilli sider which turned out a little hotter than we expected, this production has less of a kick making it more palatable is large quantities (ie. larger than a shot!). Apples were sourced from Woodley and Purley-on-Thames.
“Summer Fruits Extra”
ABV 7.9%
Following on from the popular ‘Summer Fruits’ Sider that was produced last year and featured at the Reading Real Ale & Jazz Festival, this Sider is a blend of around 90% apples and 10% mixed fruit (blackberries, raspberries and strawberries) with the addition of 500g of Dark Muscovado Sugar. The additional fruit and sugar increased the %age and gives it a fruity flavour with that extra kick!
“Super Strength Sider”
ABV 7.9%
Using apples sourced from Woodley (own garden) and Purley-on-Thames, this had 500g of Dark Brown Muscovado Sugar added to it, the added sugar increases the %age but also gives it a noticeable rum flavour (but not too much).
“Six Point Three”
ABV 6.3%
This is natural Woodley Sider (no added ingredients) and gets it’s name from the ABV (genius eh?) and sourced from Woodley and Purley-on-Thames apples.
“Ninety One”
ABV 6.3%
The last cider batch of the 2013 production, made solely from Woodley apples, the name is to celebrate the record production for Woodley Sider, hitting 91 gallons for the season!
